gurugram:
Commuters traveling from Manesar to Gurugram on Wednesday witnessed heavy traffic congestion after a vehicle broke down on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
Traffic police issued an advisory on the situation on Twitter and posted detour signs.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) RS Sangwan said: “There were traffic jams due to the breakdown of a vehicle. Our teams are on site to manage traffic and now the situation is under control.”
The highway’s main carriageway was closed for the next six days on Wednesday due to tension loading tests conducted by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on the Jaipur to Delhi lane of the highway.
The commuters, most of them office visitors, were stuck in traffic. Many said it took almost five hours to get to Hero Honda Chowk’s IMT Chowk, Manesar.
“I’ve been stuck in a traffic jam here for the last hour. I was introduced to the traffic police advice through social media in the morning. So I left home an hour early, but haven’t even crossed the toll station yet,” Bijender said. Bhatotia, a commuter.
