New Delhi:
A Delhi court on Friday sent AAP's Uttam Nagar MLA Naresh Balyan to judicial custody in a case related to alleged organized crimes, while denying his further remand by police.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja issued the order after Naresh Balyan appeared before the court following the expiry of his seven-day police custody granted earlier in the case.
The judge rejected a request by the Delhi Police to continue his further custody for 10 days in the case filed under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).
Special Public Prosecutor Akhand Pratap Singh, representing the Delhi Police, sought further custody of Naresh Balyan and said he should be interrogated to unearth the larger conspiracy in the case.
Naresh Balyan was produced before the court after the expiry of his seven-day police custody granted to him earlier in the case.
The lawmaker was arrested on December 4 in the alleged organized crime case, while a court had earlier granted him bail in an alleged extortion case.
