New Delhi:
A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly posting private photos of a woman on social media, police said on Saturday.
The suspect has been identified as Rajesh Singh Suman, a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, they said.
According to police, a woman filed a complaint with the Dwarka South Police Station alleging that Suman was stalking, blackmailing and threatening her.
She said she got in touch with the accused through a marriage website, met him several times and later shared her private photos with him, a senior police official said.
However, their marriage was dissolved, after which the accused complainant began to blackmail and threaten that he would post the photos on social media platforms and with acquaintances, the officer said.
The woman claimed he created fake Facebook and Instagram accounts in her name and started posting her photos there, police said.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Dwarka) Shankar Choudhary said the suspect was arrested from Aligarh and his phone was also seized.
He said Suman had previously been arrested in a similar case filed at the Welcome Police Station in northeast Delhi.
The police claimed that Suman confessed to committing some such offenses involving several women and the same was analyzed based on his cell phone records.
