Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde along with his faction of MLAs have reached Mumbai from Goa, where the rebel Shiv Sena lawmakers camped after returning from Assam.
This comes after Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday expelled Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde from the party for indulging in “anti-party activities”.
“In the exercise of the powers conferred on me as Shiv Sena’s party chairman, I am removing you from the post of Shiv Sena’s leader in the party organization,” wrote Mr Thackeray in a letter addressed to the chief minister of Maharashtra, who identified an insurgent faction led. Sena MLAs.
In a virtual speech to the public yesterday, Mr Thackeray said that if the Union’s Home Secretary Amit Shah had kept the original deal to make a Sena leader CM for 2.5 years, there would be no MVA and that a BJP leader would have been the prime minister today. †
“About what happened yesterday, I also previously told Amit Shah that there should be a Shiv Sena CM for 2.5 years (during the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance). If they had done this before, there would be no Maha Vikas Aghadi,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP is preparing to ensure that its Colaba MLA Rahul Narvekar is elected as chairman of the Maharashtra assembly in the elections to be held on Sunday – and official recognition is given to the rebel group Shiv Sena led by Mr. Shinde ahead of the confidence vote to be held a day later. The Maha Vikas Aghadi, meanwhile, has mobilized Shiv Sena MLA Rajan Salvi.
Eknath Shinde, who was sworn in as prime minister of Maharashtra on Thursday, will have to prove his majority in the state assembly on Monday. A special session of the Maharashtra Assembly will be held on July 3 and 4.

On June 20, Uddhav Thackeray was surprised to realize that Eknath Shinde had flown to Surat along with 11 MLAs in BJP-ruled Gujarat. They were housed in the luxury hotel, which had been turned into a sort of fortress with nearly 400 police officers guarding it.
Amid growing speculation about the rebel camp’s intentions, Mr Shinde broke his silence and said that all MLAs remained “loyal Shiv Sainiks” and “would never betray Balasaheb’s ideals” (the Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray for power Later, Mr. Shinde decided to move his camp to Goa.
