The Election Commission of India on Tuesday approved Edappadi K Palaniswami as General Secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). This strengthens Palaniswami’s leadership in the AIADMK.

While Mr. Palaniswami has been listed as the Party’s General Secretary, Dindigul C Srinivasan has been named as the Treasurer of AIADMK and Tamil Magan Hussain as the Chairman of the Presidium.
The polling body’s decision came after the Madras High Court in March rejected applications filed by AIADMK to expel leader O Panneerselvam and refused to interfere in his expulsion from the party.
