May 19 A fire broke out at a cello tape production plant in the Bawana industrial area outside Delhi on Thursday, the Delhi fire service said.
There were no casualties in the incident, they said.
The factory did not have a certificate of no objection (NOC) from the Delhi Fire Brigade, officials said.
“A call about the fire at the factory was received at 11:45 am and so far 17 fire trucks have been rushed to the site,” said Atul Garg, director of Delhi Fire Services.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Outer North) Brijendra Kumar Yadav said the fire broke out on the third floor of the factory.
“The factory made cello tapes that also use thinner. With the help of the fire service, the fire was completely extinguished by 2.30 pm and no one was injured in this incident,” according to the DCP.
The factory owner has been identified as Santosh, a resident of the Maharana Pratap enclave in Pitampura here, he said.
A case has been registered against the factory owner under Sections 285 (Negligible conduct in relation to fire or combustible substances) and 336 (Act endangering the life or personal safety of others), he added.
According to the fire service, the cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit.
In a related development, another fire was reported from a factory in northeast Delhi, Mustafabad, killing one person and injuring six.
