The under-construction building of the new secretariat in Telangana’s Hyderabad caught fire in the early morning hours today. However, a senior police official said the fire was later extinguished with the help of several fire trucks.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of the building and eventually spread, creating dense smoke in the area.
A senior police official said more than ten fire trucks arrived on time and extinguished the fire.
No casualties have been reported, the official said, despite thick smoke billowing into the area.
The actual cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
The police have registered the case and have launched an investigation into the matter.
Further details are awaited.
It is pertinent to note that the new secretariat building was to be inaugurated on February 17 by Chief Minister of State K Chandrashekar Rao.
