Amaravati/Hyderabad:
Nandigam Suresh, a senior YSRCP leader and former MP from Bapatla, was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police early on Thursday morning near Hyderabad in connection with an alleged attack on the TDP office in 2021, an official said.
According to Guntur district police chief S Satish, the former MP was arrested around 1 am on Thursday on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
“Suresh was arrested around 1 am on Thursday from Manchirevula near Narsingi. The arrest is related to an attack on the TDP office in 2021,” Satish told PTI.
In October 2021, dozens of YSRCP cadres allegedly attacked and ransacked the TDP headquarters in Mangalagiri over alleged insulting remarks made by TDP leader Pattabhiram Kommareddy against then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh police transferred Suresh to Mangalagiri police station in Guntur district and charged him under various criminal charges, including attempt to murder.
The SP reported that the former MP from Bapatla will appear in court on Thursday.
Satish noted that the police are also looking for all other people involved in the attack.
