Mathura:
Train traffic between Mathura and Delhi was completely disrupted after the derailment of a freight train at Ghaziabad in Vrindavan, officials said today.
The accident happened at 11:30 p.m. on Friday when several carriages of the train departing from Chittoor Nimba station derailed, they said.
“Both the ascending and descending routes and the third line have been affected by the derailment,” said PRO SK Srivastava of the Agra division.
More than 300 men are continuously working to remove the carriages, which were loaded with cement, he said.
About 15 carriages of the train covered all three railway lines and traffic should not resume until evening, the official said.
The train derailed between the Bhuteshwar and Vrindavan road stations of the Mathura-Palwal section of the North Eastern Railway, the official said.
