The director of an advertising agency alleged that the head of the Bihar Cricket Association tried to rape her in Delhi last year when she met him over current payments.
Following a complaint from the woman at Parliament Street police station, an FIR was filed yesterday against Rakesh Tiwary, the current president of the Bihar cricket organization, under sections related to rape and sexual assault of a woman.
The incident took place in July last year, police said. The woman filed a complaint on Sunday and the FIR was filed the next day.
The woman, who lives in Gurgaon, said in her complaint that the Bihar Cricket Association had roped her firm into handling advertising work for a tournament they hosted last March. But even after the work was done, the association did not pay them.
On July 12 last year, while Rakesh Tiwary was in Delhi, the woman decided to meet with him and request that the dues be collected. The cricket manager took her to a five-star hotel to discuss the matter and allegedly harassed her there, the woman claimed.
Police say they are further investigating the matter.
The head of the Bihar cricket organization, Rakesh Tiwary, is reportedly close to the top cricket administrators in the country and key political leaders.
