Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday at the RSS headquarters of Silchar in Cachar district of Assam.

The meeting lasted more than an hour.
Security in the area was stepped up prior to the Chief Minister’s visit.
After meeting with Mr Bhagwat, the Chief Minister met with the local people of the area.
Meanwhile, Mr Sarma also announced to build an integrated SDO(C) office and stadium at a cost of Rs 37 crore during his visit to the city of Lakhipur in Assam.
On Twitter, the Chief Minister wrote: “I am pleased to announce Rs 25 crore for the construction of an integrated SDO(C) office and Rs 12 crore for a stadium during my visit to Lakhipur.”
“A GNM Nursing Institute will also be established and a scientific stream introduced to Nehru College, while the government hospital will be upgraded to a 100-bed civilian hospital,” he said in a tweet.
To improve connectivity in the state, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of the balancing work of Shaheed Nandachand RCC Bridge over the Chiri River on Sibpur-Lakhipur Road in Cachar.
“Ensuring good connectivity is one of our top priorities. I was pleased to attend the inauguration of the balancing work of the Shaheed Nandachand RCC Bridge over the Chiri River on the Sibpur-Lakhipur road in Cachar, which has long been was incarcerated due to the contractor’s expiration,” tweeted Mr Sarma.
“In order to be completed within the time limit for the benefit of all, the project involves access road and protection works under RIDF XXVII of NABARD apart from the balancing work of the main bridge. We will also install a statue of Shaheed Nandachand at the bridge”, he then tweeted.
