Pune:
The split in the Nationalist Congress Party has cast its shadow on the Pawars' famous Diwali celebrations, with several events being hosted by Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Pune district for the first time.

NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar's celebrations will continue to center around his Govindbaug residence, where household members, party functionaries and friends of the opposition stalwart have been gathering during Diwali for years.
According to party officials, before the NCP split, Ajit Pawar attended the event in Govindbaug in July last year.
Speaking on the matter, Sharad Pawar's daughter and Baramati Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule said she had no information about the event organized by the Deputy CM.
However, she added that everyone is waiting for the party organized in Govindbaug.
“As people from across the state come to greet Pawar Saheb, we eagerly await this joyful day,” she said.
The Diwali celebrations come amid the upcoming Assembly elections, in which Baramati is expected to see a high-voltage fight between Ajit Pawar and his cousin and NCP (SP) candidate Yugendra Pawar.
In the Lok Sabha polls in Baramati, the household was once again divided along party lines as Ajit Pawar's wife Sunetra Pawar took on sitting MP Sule, who won convincingly.
The NCP split in July last year after Ajit Pawar and eight MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government.
The ECI later recognized the deputy CM's faction as the real NCP and gave it the 'bell' symbol, while the Sharad Pawar group was christened NCP (SP) with 'man blowing tutari' as its symbol.
The Assembly elections in Maharashtra will be held on November 20, while the results will be declared on November 23.
