A principal and teacher of a government school in Bihar's Nalanda district were arrested for going to the educational institute in an inebriated state. The incident took place in Gulni village earlier this week when the two authorities defied the liquor ban in Bihar.
The duo, Nagendra Prasad, the school principal, and Subodh Kumar, a contractual teacher, behaved eccentrically at the school, officials said.
According to police, a group of people from the village noticed that the two authorities were behaving unconventionally and unprofessionally. When they tried to confront them, the principal and teacher allegedly abused the villagers.
After this, the locals informed the police.
A video of the incident is also circulating on social media, showing the two in an inebriated state while talking to the students and villagers around them. The teacher was unable to walk and could be seen falling on the road due to the high level of intoxication. He was later dragged by officers to the police van.
Amid this, an altercation broke out between the police officials and the villagers as one of the police officers, who initially dragged the duo, was also reportedly drunk. He was then returned to the police station, officials said.
Prasad and Kumar were arrested and police confirmed that they were under the influence of alcohol.
They have also been suspended from school, police said.
