New Delhi:
‘The Last Ride’ – the latest song unveiled by Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala – started trending on social media shortly after news of his murder in a village in Punjab’s Mansa district on Sunday.
Fans and followers of the singer started sharing the song widely on social media, and the song released on May 15 this year has so far been viewed more than 11 million times on YouTube.
Several fans have noted uncanny similarities between the song and the circumstances of Moose Wala’s death.
The song is said to be a tribute to rapper Tupac Shakur, who was shot dead in his car in 1996 at the age of 25. Strangely enough, Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in the village of Jawaharke on Sunday night.
†Ho chobbar de chehre utte noor dassda, ni ehda uthuga jawani ch janaja mithiye (all is revealed in the young boy’s eyes that the funeral will take place in his youth),’ read the lyrics.
One social media user tweeted: “Sidhu Moose Wala’s ominous last song ‘The Last Ride’ proved true in him.”
Another wrote: “Sidhu Moose Wala used Tupac’s car photo, in which he was shot, for the cover of his song “The Last Ride”, which was actually also his last ride in life and died literally the same way as predicted in his song cover RIP. Mother of coincidences.”
The cover image for Sidhu Moose Wala’s latest issue was a photo of rapper Tupac’s murder scene.
