Hyderabad:
Bickering within the parties in the Telangana Congress appears to have intensified with as many as 13 PCC members handing in their resignations on Sunday in protest at some senior leaders’ comments that those who “migrated” to the Congress from other parties gained notoriety .
Its 13 members include incumbent Congress MLA Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) and former legislator Vem Narendar Reddy.
Former deputy chief minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh Damodar Rajanarasimha on Saturday, in a clear reference to some of the former TDP leaders who joined the congress, sought to know what message it would send to “original congress activists” if those who “migrated to the congress of other parties gained prominence.
He was flanked by CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Congress Lok Sabha member N Uttam Kumar Reddy, former MP Madhu Yashki Goud and party MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy (known as Jagga Reddy) as he made the remarks.
The discontent of these leaders is seen as directed at the President of the State Congress and Member of Parliament A Revanth Reddy.
Former MLA E Anil addressed reporters today and called on “senior leaders” to work together and bring the party back to power in the state.
He added that everyone has respect for seniors in the party.
Anil objected to the description of some party leaders as ‘migrants’. He urged senior leaders to fight unitedly against the governments (BRS in Telangana and BJP in the centre).
Following the Congress’s poor performance in the recent Munugode assembly constituency poll, the party’s state unit has faced infighting as several party leaders recently voiced their displeasure with the jumbo PCC committees that were formed some time ago were announced.
