Bhubaneswar/Rourkela:
Some workers were suspected of being trapped under the rubble after a coal hopper, a large iron structure, collapsed at a cement factory in Rajgangpur in Odisha's Sundargarh district on Thursday, police said.
The incident took place at the factory when more than a dozen workers were working near the site, a senior officer said.
After making inquiries, local police rushed to the scene and helped remove the rubble.
“The coal hopper suddenly fell down. We are on site now. The rubble is removed with the help of cranes. So far there have been no casualties or injuries. But we suspect that some workers were trapped in the rubble as workers usually work under the structure,” Inspector Manaranjan Pradhan of Rajgangpur police station told PTI.
Shortly after the incident, workers and family members of those working at the site gathered outside the factory.
The relatives of some workers alleged that the workers did not respond to their calls.
However, neither the company nor police were sure how many employees were trapped under the rubble.
