Mumbai:
A court here on Saturday has instructed the city police to conduct an investigation into a criminal complaint against film and television producer Ekta Kapoor for alleged Indian soldiers in one of its web series.
The court of a magistrate in Bandra called for the complaint based on section 202 of the Criminal Procedure Act before 9 May on 9 May.
According to this section, a magistrate can conduct an investigation into a criminal complaint or lead the police to do so.
The complaint was submitted by YouTuber Vikas Pathhak, also known as 'Hindustani Bhau'. In addition to Ekta, it called her OTT platform Alt Balaji and her parents Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor.
According to the complaint that was submitted through lawyer Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, a web series about Alt Balaji showed a military officer who did an “illegal sexual act”.
“The suspect has bowed to a cheap layer and shamelessly focused on the dignity and pride of our country through the military uniform of the Indian army in the illegal sexual act with the national emblem,” said the complaint.
