A shopkeeper in the Shopian district of Kashmir was shot at tonight in what is the fourth terrorist attack in the Valley since yesterday.
Bal Krishan, a Kashmiri Pandit, suffered gunshot wounds to his hand and leg and was taken to an army hospital in Srinagar. His condition is reported to be stable.
Earlier today, terrorists shot at CRPF personnel in the Maisuma area of Srinagar, killing one and wounding another. The two paramilitaries were rushed to SMHS hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead on arrival.
The area was cordoned off and a search for the attackers was launched.
Omar Abdullah of the National Conference condemned the killing, tweeting: “I add my words of condemnation to those of my colleagues and extend my condolences to the family of the CRPF jawan who died on the job. Prayers for the injured jawan in hoping he recovers fully.”
PDP chairman Mehbooba Mufti tweeted: “Condemn the attack on CRPF personnel in Maisuma this afternoon. This senseless violence is doing nothing but inflicting misery on the innocent families of the dead. My condolences to the family and prayers for the injured. ” JK Pradesh Congress Committee and the Apni party also condemned the killing of CRPF personnel.
The attack on CRPF men took place hours after two migrant workers were shot at in Pulwama. “Both injured people were rushed to a hospital. The area has been cordoned off,” said the police.
Two other migrant workers were also targeted yesterday.
Over the past month there has been a series of attacks on non-local workers.
