Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday prayed at Gurudwara Sri Katalgarh Sahib in Kharar ahead of the polls and said his government has made every effort to do the most in the short time given to him and that rests the will of the people.
Notably, Mr Channi is fighting today from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur constituencies.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said: “I have come to pray for the well-being of everyone and Punjab. The leadership was with the party during the campaign. It will now be the will of the Almighty and the people, we did everything I could.”
After weeks of high-tension campaigns for parliamentary elections in Punjab, more than 2.14 crore state voters will decide the fate of 1,304 candidates in the battle from 117 constituencies on Sunday.
The polls started today at 7 a.m. on 117 seats in the state.
The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
