Purba Medinipur:
West Bengal Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari said that to stop ‘gundaraj’ (hooliganism) in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has to be a ‘former’ chief minister and people from Nandigram in West Bengal will show how to do it.
“Gundaraj continues here. To complete this, Mamata Banerjee must be ‘former’ (Chief Minister). The people of Nandigram might have gotten a job if they had voted for Mamata Banerjee, but they voted against her for the sake of West Bengal. “Their spirit must be accepted by the people. We (Nandigram) know how to stop them,” Suvendu Adhikari told reporters at Purba Medinipur in West Bengal.
Mr Adhikari said the Trinamool Congress (TMC) cannot be stopped by holding talk shows or speeches but with the help of people.
“We will stop them with the help of people. We cannot stop them by shouting on talk shows or making speeches at public gatherings,” he said.
Talking about the rural-urban divide which will be a hurdle in removing the TMC from power, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said, “The people of Kolkata think Durgapuja is just a festival , we think that Durgapuja is a belief and tradition of the Sanantan Hindus. There is a difference. Those who read Bartaman, Ananda Bazar will not help us. They need time to wake up.”
Reminding people that it used to be a popular idea that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) would not be removed from power, Mr Adhikari said such an idea by people of Nandigram itself was incorrect turned out.
“We used to think that CPM would not work. They are gone. The epicenter was Nandigram. In future, they (Mamata Banerjee) will also go and the road will be marked through the village,” the BJP said. leader said.
Speaking about INDIA alliance he said, “This is not Gatbandhan but Khatbandhan. Group 420 has united to take on the popular Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The people are behind Narendra Modi. So they are not relevant.”
About the Congress and the CPI(M) being in opposition in West Bengal and joining hands with the TMC in the INDIA alliance, Mr. Adhikari said, “After the meeting in Patna and Mumbai, the CPM and Congress lost all their credibility in Bengal. You have seen in Dhugpuri that the Left and the Congress lost six percent of their votes.”
“People have two paths: whether they want to keep thieves or get rid of them. If they want to keep them, they will vote for Pishi-Bhaipo (aunt-nephew), if they want to remove them, they will vote for BJP,” he added. .
