Gurugram:
A court has sentenced a man to five years in prison for taking a waiting bus passenger’s cell phone.
Additional district court and hearing judge SP Singh also fined Rs 25,000 on Arjun, a resident of Patna in Bihar and residing in Faridabad. The judge said the convict will face another six months in prison if he does not pay the fine. The incident happened on March 21 last year, police said.
Anil Kumar said in his statement that his phone had been snatched while he was standing by the roadside at a bus stop.
He also said there was Rs 6,000 in cash in his phone case. There is an FIR registered at Sector 14 Police Station.
Following the complaint, the police arrested the identified suspect and sent him to court.
The stolen cell phone was recovered from Arjun during the investigation.
