A man fled on Thursday after stabbing his wife to death in broad daylight in a crowded place in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, police said.
Chief Inspector of Police (City) Ravindra Kumar said: “A man named Vikas Saxena fatally attacked his wife and fled. The woman was rushed to hospital where she died.
The body has been sent for postmortem examination. We have filed a case and are investigating.” According to the police, Nishi Kashyap and Vikas married against the wishes of their relatives earlier this year. The couple also have a daughter.
“According to the complaint, Nishi was returning home with some milk for the child around 11 a.m. when Vikas attacked her with a long knife.” The woman’s relatives have claimed that a few months after the wedding, the Vikas started harassing Nishi for the dowry. The duo often argued.
The police have filed a murder report on the complaint of the woman’s relatives.
