Zatara:
A 21-year-old MBBS student died after she was allegedly pushed from the third floor of a residential building in Karad in Maharashtra's Satara district by her male friend. The friend has been arrested, a police official said on Thursday.
The victim, who hails from Bihar, was a student of Krishna Vishwa Vidyalaya in Karad.
Dhruv Chikkara, who hails from Sonipat in Haryana, allegedly pushed her out of the Suncity building in Karad's Malkapur area on June 30 after an argument, he said.
“They were both studying together and were in a relationship for the past two years. They had a fight for the last few days. On June 30, the victim came to his flat in Suncity. Their fight intensified and he pushed the girl over,” said Satara Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh.
“The accused had some bruises on his body and he told us that he had sustained injuries while coming down from the building. However, we suspect that he had sustained bruises after a physical altercation with the girl. The victim's mother, who is a doctor in Bihar, alleged in her complaint that Chikkara used to fight with her daughter and objected to her talking to male college mates,” the SP said.
The suspect physically abused her daughter after she told her mother, the official who cited the complaint said.
“Her mother had advised her to stay away from him. But the victim had told her that he followed her when she tried to stay away from him. We have arrested Chikkara for murder,” the SP said.
