Patna:
The former Minister of Union RCP Singh On Sunday joined the Jan Suraaj Party of Prashant Kishor in Bihar, where elections in the meeting will be due later this year.
Mr. Singh also announced the merger of his 'Aap Sabki Awaz' with the Jan Suraaj party.
The bureaucrate-merged politician had driven his own party in November 2024.
He joined the Jan Suraaj party in the presence of the founder Prashant Kishor.
“We will both work together to make Bihar a developed state,” Mr. Singh said at a position here.
Coming from Nalanda, the hometown of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Mr. Singh was a Cadre IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh, and on central deputation he first came into contact with Mr Kumar when the JD (U) chef was the railway minister in 1999.
After accepting the power in Bihar in 2005, Mr. Kumar, who was visibly impressed by Mr Singh's administrative insight, took him to come to Bihar as his most important secretary.
In 2010, Mr. Singh took a voluntary retirement and joined Mr. Kumar's JD (U), who helped him enjoy two consecutive terms in the Rajya Sabha.
He was later also appointed as the national president of JD (U).
In 2021, however, his induction in the Union cabinet did not go well with Mr Kumar. Mr. Singh had fallen as national president of JD (U) and a Rajya Sabha period was refused a year later.
Later Mr. Singh joined the BJP in 2023 after leaving the JD (U).
