Kota:
A 26-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly beating her three-and-a-half-year-old son to death in the town of Chhipabarod in Baran district, police said.
Gayatri Jatav was arrested after her husband, Anil Jatav, filed a complaint against her. According to the indictment, he found his son dead after he returned from work Monday.
The suspect has an intellectual disability, police said.
Jatav had filed a complaint against his wife on Tuesday, alleging that she beat their boy, Kanha, at their house on Monday and locked the room from the inside, said Chhipabarod Police Station SHO Ravinder Singh.
The father said that when he came home in the evening from his daily work, he found his son unconscious in the room.
He took him to a hospital, where the doctor declared he was dead, the SHO said.
Other members of the family tried to stop the woman from hitting her son, but were unable to get her to open the door, police said, adding that the boy died from the beating after some time.
An FIR under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was filed against Gayatri Jatav and the boy’s body was handed over to relatives after the autopsy on Tuesday, Singh said.
She will be arraigned in court on Thursday, he said.
Gayatri Jatav had previously been stopped by police from beating the child twice, Singh said.
The couple had been married six years ago and had moved to their current location from Guna in Madhya Pradesh a year ago. PTI COR UN UN
