Mumbai is bracing for more showers and a heavy rain warning has been issued in the city. It has rained in the financial capital for the past two days, making the roads swampy and affecting traffic movements. Mumbai’s Powai Lake flooded yesterday. Maharashtra’s chief minister, Eknath Shinde, who visited the civilian body’s disaster control room, said 3,500 people had been moved from flood-prone areas to safer places.

Mumbai Rain Live Updates: Powai Lake Overflows
Mumbai’s Powai Lake began to flood last night amid heavy rains over the past few days, an official said. The lake has a storage capacity of 545 crore liters and started flowing at 6:15 pm, the official said. “However, the water from the lake is not drinkable and is used for industrial purposes. It was flooded on June 12 last year. When the lake is full, the water surface is about 2.23 square kilometers, while the catchment area is 6.61 square kilometers is.” he said. (PTI)
Mumbai Rain Live Updates: Man Drowns in Water-Filled Quarry, Look for Another
One person drowned during a picnic on Tuesday evening in a water-filled quarry in the Dahisar East area of Mumbai while another person was searched, a police official said. A group of seven youths, all in their mid-20s, from Gorai in the Borivali suburb, had gone to the quarry in Vaishali Nagar for a picnic amid heavy rain, he said. A fire officer said the man whose body was fished from the quarry was identified as Shekhar Pappu Vishwakarma (19). (PTI)
