An anti-encroachment campaign by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) planned in Jasola and Sarita Vihar was canceled due to the lack of sufficient police force on Thursday, civil authorities said.
According to SDMC officials, the drive was scheduled for Thursday in the Jasola-Sarita Vihar area to remove permanent and temporary encroachments on roads and government land.
The ride was scheduled a day after SDMC Mayor Mukesh Suryan visited these areas.
“The drive to Jasola and Sarita Vihar has been canceled due to the unavailability of sufficient police force. The SHO area has informed us that sufficient police personnel cannot be provided for the drive due to the police personnel’s prior involvement in other laws and – The ride will be rescheduled accordingly,” Suryan said.
In a letter to the SDMC, the Delhi Police said that due to the pre-engagement or preoccupation of Sarita Vihar Police Station’s staff and personnel in other law-and-order or investigative duties, it is not possible to provide sufficient personnel to to assist the SDMC personnel in carrying out the anti-burglary action in department number 101-S (Sarita Vihar).
“A notice of at least 10 days in advance is requested to set the date for the clean-up operation in the area of the Sarita Vihar Police Station so that sufficient staff can be provided to assist the SDMC personnel,” it said. the.
Attacks are planned in SDMC areas after Delhi BJP leader Adesh Gupta wrote to the mayor on April 20 urging him to remove the infestation by “Rohingyas, Bangladeshis and anti-social elements”.
