Bihar BJP MLA Lalan Paswan sparked controversy on Wednesday over his statements about Hindu gods. The MLA of Pirpainti Assembly constituency in Bhagalpur district questioned Hindu beliefs and argued with ‘evidence’ to prove its position.
He was protested in Shermari Bazar in Bhagalpur and his effigy was also burned.
“मुसलमान लक्ष्मी की पूजा नहीं करते, तो क्या वे अमीर नहीं होते”

Mr. Paswan also questioned the worship of Goddess Lakshmi on Diwali.
“If we only get wealth by worshiping Goddess Lakshmi, then there would have been no billionaires and billionaires among Muslims. Muslims don’t worship Goddess Lakshmi, aren’t they rich? Muslims don’t worship Goddess Saraswati. Are there no scholars among Muslims? won’t be IAS or IPS?” the MLA asked.
The BJP leader said the concept of “atma and paramatma” are just people’s beliefs.
He said, “If you believe, then it’s a Goddess, and if not, it’s just a stone idol. It’s up to us whether we believe in Gods and Goddesses or not. We have to think on a scientific basis to make a logical conclusion. If you stop believing, your intellectual capacity will increase.”
“Bajrangbali is believed to be a deity with power and bestowal power. Muslims or Christians do not worship Bajrangbali. Are they not powerful? The day you stop believing, all these things will end,” Mr Paswan said.
Paswan had previously made headlines after allegedly leaking a conversation with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Yadav.
