The presidential candidate of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance — Draupadi Murmu — was greeted enthusiastically here on Sunday.
According to the BJP activists, Draupadi Murmu came with a private jet. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel and several other party officials received Murmu at the airport and greeted her with a scarf, Mysuru ‘peta’ (turban) and flower garland.
Later, Draupadi Murmu went to a hotel where she addressed BJP lawmakers and MPs and sought their support.
She was also set to meet JD(S) leader and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda in his hometown, JD(S) sources said.
Draupadi Murmu had spoken to Deve Gowda in the past to ask for his party’s support.
