At least 18 people, mainly women and children, died and dozens were injured in a rush at the New Delhi train station on Saturday evening. Among the victims were nine people from Bihar, eight from Delhi and one from Haryana.

Wounded people were treated at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) and Lady Hardinge Hospital.

A financial help from RS 10 Lakh has been announced for the families of the victims, RS 2.5 LAKH for those who are seriously injured and RS 1 LAKH for minor injuries.
Stampede at the New Delhi train station
The Stampede at the New Delhi train station took place when hundreds of passengers were waiting to step on trains on Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj to attend the current Maha Kumbh.
A high railway officer said the incident took place after some passengers had slipped and fell on others while they came down from a footbridge.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have skilled the dead.
“Deep tormented to know about the loss of lives in a rush at New Delhi train station. I extend my sincere participation in the affected families and pray for a quick recovery of the wounded,” said President Murmu in a position about X.
PM Modi said he was “worried” by the Stampede at the New Delhi train station.
“My thoughts are for everyone who has lost their loved ones. I pray that the wounded have a quick recovery. The authorities help all those who have been hit by this rush,” he said.
