NIOS guidelines 2025: NIOS candidates can now change their writer.

NIOS -Guidelines 2025: The National Institute of Open School (NIOS) is a branch of Education Directorate, GNCTD, Old Secretariat, Delhi who registers public school students who have repeatedly failed in class 9 or 10 in their parent school. The NIOS project is intended to bring such students back to their original parent school for the next academic year.

NIOS recently issued guidelines for students who have failed more than twice in class 9 or 10 and wanted to study under it.

The exam will be held in April 2026 for students who are registered in NIOs.

NIOS guidelines 2025: Criteria are eligible for admission to NIOS

  • Students must be registered for a government school of education directorate, GNCTD to be eligible for admission to NIOs.
  • Students who have failed in at least two academic years or have had a compartment can take admission to NIOs.
  • Students who have been declared as a failed/compartment for the first time are not eligible for admission to NIOs. Such students must continue to study at the school where they are registered.

NIOS guidelines 2025: How do you request admission to NIO's?

  • Students must ask their heads from school (HOS) to get admission to NIOs.
  • The HOS of the parent school will register students for admission to NIOs via the Mass module.
  • The HOS must give a copy of the NIOS guidelines that are circular to each student who is eligible, as specified in the NIOS guidelines, published by Directorate of Education, GNCTD.

NIOS guidelines 2025: transfer of credit, registration costs

The transfer of credit facility enables students not to appear again for the exams they have erased in the parent school. This facility is only permitted for a maximum of two topics and a reimbursement of RS.230 must be paid by the student to transfer their credit.

There are no registration costs that must be paid by the students, but a reimbursement of RS.300 must be paid per subject as research costs, an extra reimbursement from RS. 150 per subject for practical topics such as painting, home science and a reimbursement of RS. 230 per subject must be paid for the transfer of credit.

Students can contact their HOS for admission to NIOs.
