Police have not yet determined the cause of her death. However, her family claimed she was killed “because the body showed injuries and her eyes were damaged”.
Her scooter was found abandoned near the forest and her mobile phone was turned off.
The police say that the case will be investigated from all sides.
Her relatives said about 25 female cricketers, including Swain, were part of a training camp organized by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) in the Bajrakabati area for an upcoming national level cricket tournament scheduled in Puducherry. They all stayed in a hotel nearby.
