The government of Odisha cut bus fares in all categories on Thursday after the price of diesel fell due to the cut in central excise taxes.
The rates have been revised with immediate effect, the transport commissioner said in the order. According to the State Transport Authority (STA), the rates for regular and express buses have been revised with three paise per km of 89 and 93 paise/km respectively.
In deluxe and AC deluxe buses, the ticket price has fallen by 6 paise per km, while journeys in super premium buses will be nine paise km cheaper, it added.
The Center on Saturday cut excise duty on petrol by a record Rs eight per liter and on diesel by Rs six per liter to provide relief to consumers.
The government of Odisha had raised tariffs twice in the past two months.
