Hyderabad:
Less than 12 hours after an 18-year-old woman was allegedly abducted in a Telangana village – the incident was captured on CCTV – a video has emerged in which the woman in bridal wear declares that she married one of those men , her boyfriend, whom she had previously also tried to elope with.
She said her father was against their intercaste relationship and she now feared for her husband and her own life. They were “married” 10 months ago, but the man, 24, was charged with sexual assault and child marriage because she was a minor at the time. The age node is now removed.
She even claimed that this morning’s incident was not staged.
Because the four men covered their faces when she was pushed into a car, she thought she was being kidnapped, she said.
But when she saw it was the man she “had been in love with for four years,” they decided to get married in a temple, she said.
However, attention to detail in the bridal attire – matching saree, blouse and jewelery – suggested some advance planning.
The man, who worked in the Gulf, belongs to a registered caste, while the woman’s caste is listed by the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community. Her father is a driver while she is a student, or so it is learned.
Police had formed six teams to track down the woman after she was taken away from her Rajanna Sircilla precinct around 5:30 am.
CCTV footage showed three men getting out of a car, pushing the father away and grabbing the woman, who they pushed into the back seat and drove away.
“One of the kidnappers was said to be from the woman’s village and someone she had been friends with in the past,” Inspector Kiran Kumar had said.
