Notice asked Asaduddin Owaisi not to hurt the sentiments of any community in his speeches
New Delhi:
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been briefed by police in Maharashtra's Solapur about his speeches.
The notice was served on Mr Owaisi while he was standing on a crowded stage at a rally in Solapur constituency.
Mr Owaisi campaigned for Farooq Shabdi, the Solapur candidate of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
The police in the communication instructed Mr Owaisi not to hurt the sentiments of any community and not to use inflammatory words in his speeches. The AIMIM chief, who was sitting on a chair, was seen reading the message while simultaneously talking on a mobile phone.
The statement did not refer to a specific case in which Mr Owaisi may have broken any law with his speeches.
He was a fierce critic of the controversial Waqf Bill 2024. The AIMIM also welcomed the Supreme Court's directions on 'bulldozer justice', which laid down national guidelines for demolition of properties. The Supreme Court had said that the executive cannot become a judge, find a suspect guilty or demolish houses.
Owaisi had said the Supreme Court order will “hopefully” prevent state governments from “collectively punishing Muslims and other marginalized groups”.
The AIMIM chief had accused the BJP of glorifying 'bulldozer action'. “Suppose there are fifty houses in one area, but the only house that is demolished is that of Abdur Rehman, then it is said that not the whole place is illegal, but only his house. This is a good example of creating hatred,” he had said. said.
His party has criticized rival parties in Maharashtra for being devoid of ideology, pointing to the sheer complexity of the political landscape following the double split of the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and new alliances of parties that did not do so. traditionally share the same ideology.
This was not the first time Mr Owaisi had been made aware of allegedly problematic speeches. Before the general elections earlier this year, the Election Commission had apprised him of alleged communal statements at a meeting in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha constituency.
