Millions of devoted from all over India have visited the current Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj – one that is held every 12 years – which causes an enormous haste in trains and traffic on roads. Last night at least 18 people, including 11 women and five children, died after a huge crowd of passengers caused by two delayed trains and a special Express train to Maha Kumbh led to a rush at New Delhi train station.

Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, CPRO Northern Railway said that there was already a huge crowds on the platform of the station when a passenger slipped on the nearby stairs, led to the deadly rush.
According to the official, platforms number 13 and 14 were already busy at New Delhi train station, because many people were waiting for two trains – Magdh Express and another direction of Jammu – that were delayed. In the midst of this, a special train for Maha Kumbh, the Bidable Pan, would leave at 10:10 pm from platform number 14. As the time for the train to pray, praying, more and more people started on the platform Collect, existing hurry. During this time, more than a thousand general tickets were purchased by passengers to go to Maha Kumbh, officials said.
“Trains have not been canceled and the platform has not changed. All trains were driven according to the schedule,” he said.
The railways have also formed a two -part committee at a high level to investigate the incident. Narsingh Deo, director of the head leader of Northern Railway and Pankaj Gangwar, chief commissioner of the main safety of Northern Railway, are part of the committee, said civil servants.
The committee, which started his investigation, gave orders to secure all the video images of the New Delhi train station.

Shashikant Tripathi, CRPO of North Central Railway, DailyExpertNews told that they have maintained the protocol at all train stations in the city. “Through these protocols, either on normal daily or important days such as 'Mauni Amavasiya', we have made a smooth access and exit for passengers.
