PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of several projects in the education sector in Assam today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam today, where he will lay the foundation stone for several projects.
The Prime Minister will address the Peace, Unity and Development Rally in Diphu in Karbi Anglong district around 11 a.m.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Prime Minister Modi will also lay the groundwork for several projects in the education sector during the program.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Veterinary College (Diphu), Degree College (West Karbi Anglong) and Agricultural College (Kolonga, West Karbi Anglong). These projects, worth more than Rs 500 crore, will bring new skills and employment opportunities in the region.
During the program, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for more than 2,950 Amrit Sarovar projects. The state will develop these Amrit Sarovars at a cumulative cost of approximately Rs 1,150 crore.
“The Prime Minister’s unwavering commitment to peace and development of the region was illustrated by the recent signing of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) by the Government of India and the Government of Assam with six militant Karbi teams. The MoS has ushering in a new era of peace in The Prime Minister’s speech at the Peace, Unity and Development Rally will provide significant impetus to peace initiatives across the region,” PMO said in a statement.
At around 1:45 PM, the Prime Minister will reach Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh and dedicate Dibrugarh Cancer Hospital to the nation.
Later, around 3pm, he will attend a public function at Khanikar Ground in Dibrugarh where he will dedicate six more cancer hospitals to the nation and lay the foundation stone for seven new cancer hospitals.
In Dibrugarh, Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a joint venture of the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts, is conducting a project to build South Asia’s largest affordable cancer care network with 17 cancer hospitals across the state.
“In phase 1 of the project, out of 10 hospitals, construction of seven hospitals has been completed, while three hospitals are at different construction levels. In phase 2 of the project, seven new cancer hospitals will be built,” it said.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate seven cancer hospitals completed in Phase 1 of the project. These cancer hospitals have been built in Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Darrang, Tezpur, Lakhimpur and Jorhat.
He will also lay the foundation stone of seven new cancer hospitals in Dhubri, Nalbari, Goalpara, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Golaghat, which will be built in Phase 2 of the project.
