Kolkata:
Amid fierce speculation about his ties to the Trinamool Congress, poll strategist Prashant Kishor shared the stage with Mamata Banerjee and her cousin Abhishek Banerjee at a party rally today.
On the podium of the Trinamool State Committee meeting in Kolkata, Prashant Kishor was flanked by the party’s state president Subrata Bakshi and other senior leaders.
Mr Kishor’s I-PAC has become entangled in an alleged feud within the Trinamool Congress, with Mamata Banerjee wary of her increasingly ambitious cousin.
Abhishek Banerjee is seen as the main liaison between the party and I-PAC, which has collaborated with the Trinamool since last year’s spectacular victory in the Bengali elections.
The rift grew over Abhishek Banerjee’s reported push to promote a ‘One Man, One Post’ policy in the party, which was resented by some of the party’s senior guard, some of whom hold multiple positions within the party. the ruling establishment.
Last month, a public spat broke out between Trinamool leader Chandrima Bhattacharya and I-PAC after she claimed her social media accounts had been “misused” by Prashant Kishor’s team – a claim that was immediately challenged.
I-PAC denied the charges, saying: “I-PAC does not handle digital property belonging to @AITCofficial or any of its leaders. Anyone making such a claim is either being uninformed or lying blatantly. AITC should investigate whether and how their digital property and/or that of their leaders are ‘allegedly (mis)used’.”
