Imphal:
The Kuki Sun Council (KZC) said in a statement that it has received the imposition of President's Government in the state affected by the Government, and the relocation will help paving the way for political settlements and peaceful coexistence.
“We hope that (the rule of the president) would pave the way for appropriate political settlements and peaceful coexistence (from Meitei and Kuki-Zmar tribals) as good neighbors,” said KZC secretary (information) Khaikhhauh.
Referring to comments from BJP's Northeast Incharge Sambit Patra that the territorial integrity of Manipur will not be touched, the KZC said in a statement: “Patra cannot be aware or has not chosen to be aware that Meitei is the territorial integrity of Manipur on 3 May 2023, when they slaughtered church buildings, attacked the church buildings, destroying the houses and moving the Kuki-Zo people from the Imphal Valley. “
The KZC claimed that the government conducted “ethnic cleansing” under the leadership of former minister N Biren Singh, which led to the separation of Kuki-Zo tribes and the valley-dominant Meitis Demographic and physical.
“Kuki Zo are not separatists, Meiteis has Kuki-Zo separated from Manipur. On fire or destroyed, and more than 40,000 Kuki-Zo people have become homeless,” the KZC said in the statement.
Mr Patra in Imphal said on Friday that the 60-person state assembly was placed under a suspended animation, which means that the meeting can be revived when the president fits.
“The BJP government strives to continue peace efforts in the state and to maintain the territorial integrity of Manipur. There would be no compromise on the territorial integrity of the state. Illegal infiltration in Manipur would not be allowed in any circumstances And such attempts would not be treated seriously in any circumstances, “Mr Patra had told reporters.
Speculation is that the BJP tries to choose a leader who will be acceptable among all communities-Kuki-Zmar, Naga tribes and the non-tribal Meitis. The Kuki tribes and the Meitis have been fighting a number of issues such as land rights and political representation since May 2023.
Separate demand for administration
Kuki groups, including militant organizations that represent their strains and who signed the controversial suspension of operations (SOO) agreement with the center and state government, have pointed out to the ethnic collisions as the reason why they escalated their requirements of an autonomous advice to a separate administration, or a trade union area with a meeting.
The World Kuki-Zo Intellectual Council (WKZIC), however, in a memorandum for the new Governor of Manipur on January 15, said that the Kuki tribes demand a state “since 1946-47.”
The internally displaced people from both communities still have to return home.
Kuki leaders have said that a “political solution” must first be discussed in the form of a separate administration before other issues, including the return of thousands of people who live in auxiliary camps.
Meitei leaders, however, have cited this condition that is placed by the Kuki leaders as a deceptive attempt to set up a story for an ethnocentric demand for home country; The argument of the Meitei leaders is that conversations can continue, while at the same time people can return in difficult circumstances in the camps, because no territory is exclusive ethnic.
The demand for an ethnocentric home country is untenable and outdated in Manipur, where at least 35 communities co -exist, a group of activists and academics from the violent state that had said borders to Myanmar during the 57th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva in October.
More than 250 died and 60,000 have been moved internally in the Manipur collisions.
