Himanta Sarma said that Rahul Gandhi was on yatra but had not conveyed his vision for the country.
New Delhi:
Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi saying he “has no systematic seriousness”, wants to have power without accountability and is “not fit for politics”.
In an interview with ANI, Mr Sarma, who has served in Congress for more than two decades, said he had told the party leadership that they will lose the Northeast without a course correction. Mr Sarma joined BJP in 2015.
He accused Rahul Gandhi of being unserious as a politician, acting like “a feudal lord” and being arrogant.
“The first is that he is not fit for politics. He is probably doing the work he should not be doing,” Sarma said.
He said that sometimes Rahul Gandhi can leave a meeting in between and go for his exercise routine like jogging or suddenly go to the next room and come after half an hour. “There is no systematic seriousness,” he said.
Mr Sarma said that Rahul Gandhi, who is located on Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, has taken moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and for his loss of Amethi, and that he is stepped down as president, but continues to make crucial party decisions. .
“Rahul has taken moral responsibility that the party lost the Lok Sabha elections under my leadership, so I will not be the president. But who is leading the party today, who is leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra? Who is chasing the whole party? “That means you want to enjoy power without accountability. In a democracy, when someone wants to enjoy power without parliamentary accountability, without party accountability, without popular accountability, that’s the most dangerous thing there is,” he said. he.
“You are not president of Congress, but you make all the decisions. If you are not president of Congress, have taken moral responsibility after losing the election, why is the whole party behind you now,” he added.
Mr Sarma said Rahul Gandhi was on yatra but had not conveyed his vision for the country.
“They (Gandhi family) go to the poor people, but do the poor also come to their house? Have you ever seen Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi eat with poor people at the same dinner table,” Sarma asked.
He said Congress has an ecosystem where only the Gandhi family matters.
“I have to give credit to the Congress party, they create an environment where you have nothing outside the Gandhi family. If someone resigns from the party, the Congress spokesperson says he has betrayed the family, they will not say he have betrayed the nation. say the family has given you everything but the fact is the people of the nation give power. But they create a buzz that the family has made you MP. This is the environment of Congress,” said Mr Sarma.
“The day you join Congress… Congress has an inner culture that your life begins and ends with Gandhi(s). As you become attached to any guru, you just surrender everything to that guru. There is an atmosphere. I don’t know I don’t know who started this, who will end it, but this ecosystem is very strong in Congress.” he added.
Mr Sarma also said that many people will come to the BJP from Congress.
