Churu:
The entire North Indian belt continued to teeter under a severe cold snap on Tuesday, with minimum temperatures in Churu, Rajasthan, dropping below 0 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Churu was -0.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, making it the coldest day in the city this winter.
According to the Meteorological Service, the maximum daytime temperature in Churu on Monday was 18.8 degrees Celsius.
The Land of Kings, as Churu is called, was covered in snow as the mercury dipped. The locals huddled around bonfires to keep the icy cold at bay.
The vagaries of nature have given this picturesque city in Rajasthan its own identity. While the temperature in Churu can reach 50 degrees Celsius at the height of summer, the mercury dips below zero as winter grips the city.
The Met department warned of the mercury moving further south in the coming days.
