Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official state visit to the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden is a great opportunity for the two leaders to underline the deep ties between the world’s two largest democracies, a senior State Department official said.
Prime Minister Modi will begin his state visit to the US next month at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The US President and the First Lady will also receive Prime Minister Modi at a state dinner on June 22.
“We are very excited to host Prime Minister Modi here in Washington in June. This will be a great opportunity for our two leaders to underline the deep ties between our two countries and between our peoples,” said Nancy Izzo Jackson, Deputy Deputy Secretary of State for India at the Bureau of South and Central Asia Affairs.
“They will assess our growing trade, investment and defense partnership. We also expect them to discuss new areas of cooperation as we work together to address global challenges such as health, climate change, clean energy technology and food security,” she said. in response to a question.
Jackson added, “At the root of all of these issues, however, is our shared investment in our people-to-people bonds, whether that be fostering educational exchanges or investing in developing our workforce. Visas are definitely part of that conversation.”
She claimed that this was one of the most consistent global relationships.
“Our bilateral partnership cuts across our most critical global strategic priorities: defense, economic and trade security, health, emerging technology and the ever-expanding human-to-people ties,” Jackson said.
