With a strong take on their act, four cases were filed against the couple (representative)
Mathura:
A Russian couple have been arrested from a hotel in UP’s Mathura for staying too long in India and attacking police, an official said on Saturday.
Their visa had expired two years ago. They beat a police officer, ripped his uniform and bit a female officer in the hand after refusing to provide valid documents, officials said.
“On Friday, we were informed that a Russian couple from Delhi Hotel had reached Krishna Valley Hotel in Vrindavan and failed to show them valid documents. Police and Local Intelligence Agency (LIU) personnel came there to investigate the matter, but the couple refused to cooperate or show relevant papers,” said LIU inspector Pradeep Sharma.
“When an attempt was made to arrest them and take them to the police station, they behaved and got into a scuffle,” the inspector said.
Taking a strong look at their act, four cases were filed against the couple. They were brought to court and sent to jail, he said.
The inspector said the couple’s information is being obtained from the Russian embassy and that it has been informed of the measures taken.
