Salman Khan is provided with category Y+ protection as the actor is believed to be under threat.
New Delhi:
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan topped the list of 10 prime targets that captured mobster Lawrence Bishnoi planned to take out, the notorious criminal confessed to the National Investigation Agency, officials said.
Lawrence Bishnoi said that in 1998, Salman Khan hunted the black goat, which is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community and to avenge the community’s hurt feelings, the gangster said he wanted to kill the actor. Bishnoi confessed to the NIA in December last year that his aide Sampat Nehra, as per his instructions, had conducted a reconnaissance of Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai. However, Nehra was arrested by the Special Task Force of the Harayana Police Department.
On April 11 this year, Salman Khan received another death threat, Mumbai police said, weeks after a man was taken into custody for sending an email containing threats to the ‘Dabangg’ actor.
Salman Khan has been provided with category Y+ security by the Mumbai Police as the actor is believed to be under threat. The Maharashtra government took this step after the actor received a threatening letter from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Bishnoi, who is currently in the Tihar Prison of the national capital, also confessed that in the year 2021 he bought two ‘zigana’ semi-automatic pistols from America through Goldie Brar for the notorious Gogi gang.
Members of the gang allegedly attacked and killed Tillu Tajpuriya in his Tihar prison cell in April this year. Canada-based Brar, who had claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab’s Mansa district last year, also claimed responsibility for Tajpuriya’s murder.
After Bishoni’s confession to the NIA was recorded last December, sleuths suspect that the guns he gave to the Gogoi gang could have been used in the sensational murder of mobster politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. Atiq Ahmed and his brother were shot dead while being taken to a hospital in Prayagraj at night on April 15 in the presence of police.
Mumbai police also booked jailed mobsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar and Rohit Garg for allegedly sending threatening emails to actor Salman Khan’s office. Bandra Police registered a case under sections 506(2), 120(b) and 34 of IPC.
Meanwhile, Bishnoi said in his confession that apart from Salman Khan, he was also targeted by Shagunpreet, the manager of late Punjabi singer Sidhu MooseWala.
Bishnoi said that Shagunpreet was on his hit list because he managed the late singer’s accounts and had also taken in Vicky Middukhera, a student leader in Punjab politics who supported Lawrence Bishnoi and was subsequently killed.
Canada-based Goldy Brar has previously claimed that singer Sidhu Moosewala was killed to avenge Vikramjit Singh’s murder.
Bishnoi further confessed to the NIA that one Vikas Singh, a strong man from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, had been sheltering agents and accomplices of his gang at his hideout.
On April 18, the Patiala House Court in Delhi granted seven-day detention of Bishnoi to the NIA in a case related to terror financing of pro-Khalistani outfits, his lawyer Vishal Chopra told ANI.
Lawrence Bishnoi, accused in the Siddhu Moosewala murder case, was arrested by the Punjab police last year.
