Kathua:
A search operation was launched in Hiranagar town area of Kathua district on Sunday following suspicious movement of three persons, officials said.
Speaking to reporters, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Shobhit Saxena said a joint operation has been carried out since Saturday evening to search the area in collaboration with the Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF). ) and other agencies.
Aerial surveillance is also being conducted, SSP Kathua Shobhit Saxena added.
“There was some suspected movement. So we responded within an hour. Since last night, we have been searching the entire area along with the Army, SOG, CRPF and others. Surveillance is also carried out from the air. So let's see what happens. There were reports of the presence of 3-4 people. We confirm this, people are being questioned,” said SSP Kathua.
In a separate incident, two police personnel were found dead with bullet wounds inside a police vehicle in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning, police said. According to Udhampur police, an AK-47 rifle was used in the incident.
Speaking to ANI, SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure said that the personnel were heading to Talwara training center from Sopore.
“The incident took place at 6.30am. They drove from Sopore towards the training center in Talwara. Police officers reached the spot. According to the initial investigation, it has been proven that an AK-47 rifle was used in the incident. Two police personnel have died. A third police personnel are safe. They will be taken to GMC Udhampur for post-mortem and other procedures,” the Udhampur SSP said.
On December 3, a terrorist was killed during an encounter with security forces in Srinagar's Dachigam forest.
The encounter began on December 2 and based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and JK Police in Harwan, Srinagar. The first contact was made during the search. Further information is awaited.
