At least seven schoolchildren and the driver of the van they were traveling in were injured after a school bus rammed into them in southwest Delhi on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The injured were taken to a hospital, where the children were released after treatment for minor bruises. The driver of the van is recovering in hospital, police said.
The accident took place on Basantara Line near Kendriya Vidyalaya.
The school bus belonged to St Thomas School, Dwarka and the Eeco van was transporting the children of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1. All the children were below seven years of age.
“Both vehicles suffered a head-on collision. It is suspected that the bus was traveling in the wrong direction due to which the accident occurred. A case has been registered under the relevant section of the IPC and investigation is underway,” a spokesperson said of the police. said police officer.
Naveen Kumar, the 25-year-old school bus driver who fled the scene, was later arrested.
Parents of students later took them to other hospitals for medical examination, police said.
