Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lashed out on Thursday to the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh about the alleged rape of an 11-year-old Dalit girl and demanded strict action against the perpetrator.
In a post in Hindi on X, Mr Gandhi said that such crimes took place “continuously” in the state because of the anti-dalit and anti-women's mindset of the BJP.

In the meantime, the Uttar Pradesh police arrested a 24-year-old man within 24 hours after the incident on Thursday.
Daan Singh was caught after a short emphasis with the police on Wednesday evening in which he was injured, officials said.
