Jaipur:
Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot took a dig at the BJP on Tuesday and said his “single-engine” government in Rajasthan is doing more work for the people than the Saffron Party’s “twin-engine” governments in other states.
The Prime Minister was in contact with the beneficiaries of the social security pension scheme at his official residence here in the polling station state.
“These people say their government has a dual engine, but one of the engines fails in many places,” Gehlot said.
“The real engine is this (Rajasthan) government. Our single engine government is doing work that the twin engine governments cannot do anywhere in the country. Our single engine government is much safer, rest assured,” he added.
The term “dual engine” is used by BJP leaders to refer to the party in power at both the center and a state.
Mr Gehlot has transferred more than Rs 1,000 crore to the accounts of more than 50 lakh beneficiaries of the social security pension scheme as a pension for May-June and said the state government will make a law to provide pension under social security.
He also said that female heads of Chiranjeevi families under the Mukhyamantri Digital Seva Yojana will be provided with internet-enabled smartphones for three years.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra said the party’s newly constituted executive committee was “balanced” and dismissed speculation about factionalism.
He said Congress is united in the state and will remain united. He also said that his party will win the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The congress on Monday brought about a major change in its Rajasthan unit, appointing 21 vice presidents, 48 general secretaries, an organization of general secretaries, 121 secretaries and 25 district presidents.
When asked how the different camps in the party were balanced in terms of nominations, Dotasra said, “Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are the only camps in Congress. All are soldiers of Congress. I would urge the media not to talk about a camp, group or leader. in Rajasthan from today. Just talk about the Congress.” Congress is united, will remain united and will win the parliamentary elections. In 2024, we will remove the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the center,” he said.
Dotasra described the new executive as “balanced” and said 60 percent of the people appointed are young people and all sections are represented. He said he is ready for the election with his new team.
The congress leader said that making the work of the state government known to the public is a major challenge for the party organization.
“This time the challenge is more challenging because our government has done a lot of work and worked for each section. There are different arrangements and we have to work hard so that each individual benefits,” he said.
Speaking at the BJP’s meeting held on Monday regarding the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Dotasra said, “They are not winning. They are fighting with each other. The internal rift in the BJP is deep.”
