New Delhi:
Tejashwi Yadav, the new deputy prime minister of Bihar, today described Nitish Kumar’s return to the “socialist family” as a “slap in the face to the BJP”. He said the BJP’s attempt to “intimidate or buy out” regional parties is aimed at “ending the politics of backward classes and Dalits” because most such parties represent such sections of society.
He strengthened family and ideological ties with Nitish Kumar, who revived the JDU-RJD Congress ‘Mahagathbandhan’ after dumping the BJP earlier this week.
“In Bihar, all parties against the BJP are now on the same side. Nitish-ji made the right decision at the right time. This will now happen all over India,” Yadav said.
Asked about his job promise, he said it’s good that the BJP – away from the “community politics of the Hindu-Muslim divide” – is “finally talking about real problems”. “We forced them to address these issues. We will keep our promise. Wait a minute.”
“Bihar has taken the country in a new direction… The common man suffers from the high prices, but the BJP just knows the politics of communalism, causing disputes between Hindus and Muslims. It hurts our Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb, our culture of unity in diversity.”
He said he walked the path of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. “My father has fought all his life for the community, for social justice and for the poor. Woh na dare, na jhuke.”
