Bhopal:
A statue of Jawaharlal Nehru was vandalized in Satna in Madhya Pradesh. A video circulating on social media shows a dozen people trying to damage the statue with sticks and stones. One of them even tries to break the statue with a hammer.
The incident took place last night in Dhavari Square, which is only about 50 meters away from the District Collectorate.
The video shows the assailants carrying saffron flags and shouting slogans at the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government.

Police have arrested six people for attempting to damage a statue of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister. “A case has been registered against unidentified persons. They have been charged with damaging the statue of Nehru and causing social unrest in the society. They will be severely dealt with,” the police said.
Kamal Nath, who strongly condemned the incident, demanded that the government investigate the matter and take strict action against the perpetrators.
